Historic Sunnyside Country Club was designed by William P. Bell and opened its doors is 1911 as the only golf course in existence between Monterey and Los Angeles.
Historic Sunnyside Country Club was designed by William Park Bell, a renowned golf course architect, whose resume spans Bakersfield Country Club, Del Rio Country Club, Newport Beach Country Club, Stanford Golf Course and North at Torrey Pines to name a few. Sunnyside opened its doors is 1911 as the only golf course in existence between Monterey and Los Angeles. The course measures 6,950 yards from the championship tees and is known for its tree-lined fairways, beautiful bunkering, and challenging bentgrass greens. With the design of the course pre-dating motorized carts, the course is one of the most walkable in the valley.
Since opening, the course has been host to a large number of tournaments and exhibitions during its one hundred years. Being the host site for Fresno City Amateur, USGA National Junior Championship, Girls Junior America's Cup, California State Open, and many years of NCPGA Pro Scratch. Many acclaimed golfers have traveled the fairways of Sunnyside.
The golf course is overseen by Argronomist, Paul Cushing and course Superintendent, Jose Aguilar along with their fantastic team whom maintain the course 365 days a year. The course is overseeded in the winter time to maintain green fairways when the rest of Fresno plays on dormant Bermuda. The firm, fast greens are consistently some of the best in the valley. Most 18 hole rounds only take three and a half hours and tee times are not required.
